Netherlands

The Netherlands is a small country in Europe, bordering Germany to the east, Belgium to the south and the North Sea to the west. The population of this small country is about 17 million, according to an estimate of Statistics Netherlands, also known as CBS. All these people live on about 41.5 km2, much of which is reclaimed from sea. A lot of it is even below sea level, its lowest point being about 5.9 m below NAP in a polder near Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel:

Let’s also talk about the name of this great country: the Netherlands… NOT Holland! North and South Holland are just two of the twelve provinces, admittedly, they are the provinces where the country’s capital (Amsterdam) and government (Den Haag) are, but there is a lot more to see in the Netherlands. Some of the highlights will be shown in the sub-menu items here.
